What is “positive peer pressure?” Give some examples of peer pressure that George, Sam, and Rameck face. Then, give example, positive or negative, of peer pressure in your own life.
Positive peer pressure is pressure that is said or taught in a good way. It should push you to do better/ be better. George, Sam, and Rameck face a lot of negative peer pressure such as their friends pushing them to steal. Also, being in an environment where drugs are always around them. Some positive peer pressure in my life is my family telling me to always do good and be my best because they want to see me have a good future. An example of negative peer pressure in my life are my friends continuously wanting me to smoke or try different drinks.
"Positive peer pressure" can be from an adult or someone else older around you, that may have a better out look on life. Someone that may make better decisions for themselves, that can influence you and the decisions that you make. The peer pressure they face is from friends, family, people around them. Their friends put each other into bad situations, with the choice they make. Positive peer pressure in my life would probably be my parents, they have the most influence on me with the choices they have made, and I look up to them, and would like to be able to make some of the choice that they have made.
Positive peer pressure are pressures that encourage you and your friends to achieve a goal in life. In the book "The Pact" George, Sam, and Rameck use peer pressure to encourage each other in their education and life. For example: If one of them gets an A on a test, then the other will work hard to get an A on a test. A positive peer pressure that occurred in my life is when I joined a volunteer group and my friends would also joined the volunteer group to help people in need.
I agree with Elena. I agree with her because Positive Peer pressure can come from anyone with a good attitude towards life. I think that positive peer pressure should play a big role in young peoples lives because they are growing up and need to be steered onto the right track of life. Especially having Sam's life where negative peer pressure is all around you and you need to overcome that.
Positive peer pressure is pressure from others to do the right thing and not give into doing the wrong thing.George,Sam,and Rameck both face negative and positive peer pressure. For example,Sam had a choice to either participate and steal with his friends or feel like a chump and risk being isolated. He gave into peer pressure and stole just like his friends did. The environment these three boys live in has a lot to do with the kind of pressure that is pushed on them. I receive a lot of positive peer pressure from my family, considering their always pushing me to do the right thing. For instance, my parents constantly tell me to do good in school, make right choices, and hang around the right people.
I agree With Maia one hundred percent. Positive peer pressure should make you a better person. I also think that the best friends to have around you are the friends that give you positive peer pressure
I agree with Maia and Elena. As they were talking about peer pressure, they said that the family and friends that George, Sam and Rameck had put them into bad situations. Like Maia said, drugs were all around them, but on the other hand, good peer pressure made George, Sam and Rameck fight for what they wanted to be in life, which leads them to becoming doctors and not falling into the bad peer pressure.
I agree with Carli because doing the right thing is very hard and I personally have experienced of making a decision. Doing the right thing can be very challenging and doing the wrong thing is much harder rather than doing the right thing because of the choices we made in our life.
i agreed with Yosua S.. I agreed with him because positive peer pressure are pressures that encourage you to achieve a goal in life. For example, my parents always tell me to get all A's in every classes and make the right choices around friends.
I agree with Yoshua.Positive peer pressure definitely encourages you do pursue your goals in life. If your surrounded by people who always tell you to do the right thing, you most likely will be successful. Sam,George, and Rameck all use peer pressure to encourage each other. They help each other succeed in their goals, and they all put a lot of effort in their work. Positive peer pressure can change the way people live, and can help change their view on the world.
Positive peer pressure in many ways is helpful. For one, when someone like your parents for instance are constantly telling you to do good, nine out of ten times a child is going to try to do good. One example of peer pressure that one of the three boys faced as a child would be Rameck dealing with his parents both being drug addicts. It would have been so simple for him to fall into the same patterns both is mother and father fell into. But with a positive influence like his grandmother (Ma) he stayed out of the harmful line of drugs. Also, because of the struggles he went through with his mother, he vowed never to do drugs. Some examples of positive peer pressure in my life first of all would be my parents. They have been through so much and taking a look at their mistakes and seeing how bad it hurt them made me want to not make the same mistakes. Another positive influence on my life would have to be my boyfriend Frank. He has made me change for the positive and I'm so grateful for that.
Positive peer pressure is pressure that influences you to do good, positive things. George, Sam, and Remeck were all influenced with both positive and negative peer pressure. They were all living in a bad environment, filled with violence, drugs, alcohol, and high school drop outs which influenced them badly. Luckily, there were a few people who influenced them positively. George was influenced by his dentist because he had impressed his dentist with his own curiosity. Sam was influenced by his teacher and Rameck was influenced by his grandmother and his teacher.
In my life, I was influenced by positive peer pressure many times. Like joining the school's soccer team, student council, and many more.
I agree with Maia,Positive peer pressure is an amazing thing and the only pressure that should be put upon everyone young child or student. I grew up in a type of violent area. Fights would always happen and I was asked to do some crazy things.
Lexi: I agree with you all the way. I think that our parents influence us the most and seeing our parents mistakes does make a difference on what we decide to do in life. I also think that positive peer pressure is very helpful although it may seem annoying especially with parents always telling you what you should do they are doing it because they want you to be successful.
I agree with Lexi, most of the time when you have someone who you have a strong desire for or get this good vibe about them, what they think and say you take to heart and into consideration. So with people telling Sam, George, and Rameck to do the good thing encourages them. Also, when you've seen mistakes people you love once made it sometimes makes you not want to even think about going down that road because of where that person ended up.
To me, positive peer pressure is something or someone that influences you to make positive and(in the long run) beneficial choices in your life. For George, positive peer presure for him was the dentist. The dentist had insipired him to persue this carrer in life and make an honest living. For Sam, his positive peer pressure had been his mother, in that she allways had been tough on him about doing good in school and grades and had a positive influence on him on how she worked to provide for the family. Lastly for Rameck, his postive peer pressure was his loving grandma or "Ma". Ma,(just like sams mom)allways cared about his grades and school. Also, another positive influence on his life was Mrs. Hatt in that she allways motivated Rameck to do good, and complimented him on his intelligence.
For me my positive peer pressure is my grandfather, in that he inspires and motivates me to do well in everything that I do. He tells me how he regrets not finishing High school and for me not to make the same mistake, and become successful by studying and doing well, not by luck or chance.
I agree with lexi in that positive peer pressure in a helpful thing and can be beneficial for your life, her example's that go with the story and on how tough the characters early lifes had been. :)
@ Lexi & Carmen, I agree with you both 100% because for Lexi, you can always have someone to be there for you whenever you need help & Carmen, I agree with you because if you join school activities you let out pressure that's been bothering you and it keeps your mind off things :0 ILY GIRLYS <3
