When Rameck spoke about those few good examples, I believe he was talking about someone that he could look up to, follow, and keep him out of trouble. I believe that in life, good examples are everywhere. It's just that they are extremely hard to find. Unfortunately, most of the examples presented by the world and the media are negative. Thankfully, they are not impossible to find. I believe that we designate our role models according to the time we spend with them. I think this is the way it should be. We shouldn't choose someone like a professional sports player to be our role-models because they have no personal influence in our lives. I also believe that our role models don't have to be the same gender as us. I look up to my mother a lot and I think she is one of my biggest role models.
When Rameck describes those few good examples, I assume he is talking about role models, which are people who will guide you in the right direction, and someone you could look up to. These people can be found anywhere, but it has to be someone you admire for legitimate reasons. You can't choose someone who is "COOL" to be a role model for yourself, because it won't lead you to the right direction. My role models would have to be my older cousin, and my nan. My nan grew up to be a wonderful person because of her great personality, that everyone admites. Also, my cousin, so far has reached all her goals, and thats exactly what I want to do.
I agree with Eric. Rameck is talking about someone to look up to. I agree that even though there are millions of people out there, it is very difficult to find someone to follow. I also agree that choosing a proffesional as our role model isn't reasonabal, because they have no personal effect on our lives. Role models can be a boy or girl, as long as it's someone you admire for good reasons. I don't think age should matter either, because everybody has a different way of living no matter what their age is. I believe having a role model can make life easier, considering, you have an idea on the kind of person you would like to become one day in life.
Rameck's uncles are some of the good examples that he has. Someone at least slightly, he could look up too. He could follow their paths in doing something with his life. Role models, or people you look up to in life should influence you in a positive way. I don't really have a role model. If I had to choose someone, it would be my mom because she tries to do her best in whatever she does.
I agree with Carli because as she said, "...there are millions of people out there, it is very difficult to find someone to follow." I think this is true because there is a lot of negativity in the world around us and many people are doing bad things. You need to know what you want for yourself and find someone positive to look up to in life. No matter what age, race, gender, role models could help you succeed in life. They are there to guide you along the way.
Rameck does not really have any role models in his life. His father and mother were on drugs, and his father was also in and out of jail. Rameck had to depend on his grandmother, who he called Ma. Rameck did have two uncles that he looked up to when he saw them. His Uncle Richard had joined the Nation of Islam and his other Uncle Sheldon was away at college in Louisiana. Rameck looked up to these guys because they were making something out of themselves. His friends were trouble so they were not good examples for this strong, smart young man to follow. This intelligent individual was a type of boy who wanted to overcome adversities to become successful. A role model does not follow people who make bad decisions. Role models are people who have a good head on their shoulders, and if Rameck was to follow his friends, he probably would of not became the person he is today. I do not have a role model that I look up to. I make my own decisions and I try my best to make good choices. My love ones who care about me, give me advice and try to lead me in a good path. I am a just an oridinary girl who wants to do my best on my own, so right now I'm just a young lady reaching for a shining star.
I agree with Carli. A role model is a person that is suppose to lead you in the right direction. They are suppose to give you good advice and always tell you to do the right thing. Leading back into Rameck's life, his grandmother Ma, was a strong woman who wanted him to succeed, so she stood by him. People that have to act "COOL" all the time, are not considered role models. They are just people who want to be popluar and have everybody like them. Just like Rameck, he wanted to be cool because he thought his friends were cool and he wanted to fit in. But really being cool and doing bad things to try and fit in, is not the right decison because that will not lead you in the right path.
I agree with Eric and Carli Mastantuno. Rameck wanted to follow someone footsteps that were headed in the right direction. He was unable to find a role model. He dad wasn't around and all his uncles were busy. Then he found himself following his friends that we leading him in trouble. He was eventually put in jail but lucky he was given another chance and was set free. Later he realized that the friends he should be following are George and Sam. This change led him to some rewarding things in the end. So, finding the role models that will lead in the right direction is the key to a successful life.
I agreed with everyone. Rameck is talking about someone that he could look up to and to keep him out of trouble. Because even though there are billions of people living in the world, it’s difficult to find someone to follow other than your parents because there are a lot of negativity in the world around us and people out there are doing the wrong things. You just needs to find the positive things around to success in life. People who trying to act cool are not even consider role models because they just want to be popular and get everyone’s attentions. Like Rameck, he was growing up without a father and hanging with a wrong crowd so he can be fit in which led him to jail but luckily he got a second chance and was set free.
I agree with Eric. Nowadays, good influences are hard to find in this generation of people. Some teens are going out, smoking, drinking, etc. The media is telling people that they need to look a certain way to be accepted, when in reality, they're perfect just the way they are. I believe that we know from what's right and wrong. We can be easily influenced by others, but if there's a little voice speaking to you, then you should listen to it.
I really like all the comments on here but I recognized two things that stood out to me In Carli's comment and in Carmen's comment.
@ Carli... One thing I liked about what you said was that age doesn't have to be a factor in deciding a role model. I totally agree 100% with that. As long as the person sets a good example, they are eligible as a role model.
@ Carmen... I like what you said about how the media is not only trying to change people's attitudes and actions, but also their appearances as well. I think that is important especially today, because people are going out of their way just to follow a trend. Unfortunately , I believe that the media is in some ways a role model to many people today.
Rameck said things about good examples on that page he told us that Rameck wanted to be cool and he had role models in his life and he wanted to follow them and be like them someday. If he meets people he wanted people to think that he's cool and stuff. I personally wanted to say that my role models are people who inspired me to become better everyday and they are my parents, my classmates, and all of my teachers, but also all the people that i knew.
I agree with Maia and I think that she's right because people who inspired us are the ones that we can trust and follow. Also, they must give us good examples to follow and make right decisions. As Maia said that people who influences us are the one that encourage us to do positive things in our life.
Some of the few good examples Rameck describes on page 72 is about his uncles and what good they did with their lives. Unfortunately his dad wasn't a good role model so having uncles like his who were doing good for themselves set good examples for him. My role models are my mom, my grandmamom, pop pop, and uncle. They are all hardworking and they all encourage me to do the same. Luckily i have people like that in my life because a loy of people don't.
I agree with eric because many people don't have a lot of positive in their life. They are surrounded by a lot of negativity and neglect which pushes them to do things that won't have such a good impact on them in the end. Sometimes people need someone to look up to to give them a little push to succeed!
I agree with Eric because our role models are the ones that are close to us the most close to us. I don't think a famous person should be your role model only becasue you like thier songs, fashion, house, or lifestyle. Familyand friends are the best role modles to have. Thats why my role model is my mom.
Rameck Hunt, he didnt really have role model. but he have his grandmother who is there for him. but he have a role model of himself though that he would want to success it. my role model would be my family!! no one can replace my family with other people. they always be there for me even i had done so many mistake. They still take me as part of their family no matter what i have done!!
i agree with Giana, he didnt really had family be to be there for him. he have to be himself role model. In his family, there always problem; such as his dad is divorce, his mom is on drug, they need money to feed them, to maintain warmness & clothes on their back! A role model :: usually people who lead you to be success, who want you to be who you are, who doesn't lead you to do bad. Also, a role model that be there for you even how poor you are, or how awful situation you are in!!
Rameck was talking about some people/men who he can look up to (in page 72 of the book). He was talking about how he looks up to his uncles, which he discribed are good guys. Even though he often see his uncles regularly, he was more hangingout/seeing his neighborhood friends. He wants someone to look up to, so if he sees someone he thinks are cool, he would want to be with and/or like the person. My role models are my parents(& someone else in my family, like aunts, older cousins, etc.), the people at my church, someone special to me, some teachers, ect. and the most important is Heavenly Father(God). Yes, I look up to most of them
I agree with Chhi-Chhi, Rameck is kind of hunting for someone to look up to. Even though he have his uncles, but he mostly are with his neighborhood friends & he doesn't really have a father figure since his father come & go because of his situation(jail). From what happend to each of the pact(3 youngmen)'s lives lead them to make a promise & fulfill their dreams..they made a "pact", they depend in eachother yet they each are independent, because they had realized if they can work together & be good example to one another, they know they can dream for something better out of their lives & not put themselves to waste(because they have potentials & dreams within themselves)
Carm, i agree with you 1000% because when you said: "Nowadays, good influences are hard to find in this generation of people. Some teens are going out, smoking, drinking, etc." in reality when you think about this it's true. Kids as young as TWELVE, yes TWELVE, are going around smoking and drinking and some of them are even doing drugs. You would never think that it's so close to home but it really is. For example in my neighborhood kids drink and smoke like it's nothing. Its really sad that kids my age are getting involved with stuff like that at a such a young age.
On page 72, Rameck described about how he wanted a role model to look up to. But, there were only few good examples to follow. His dad wasn't a role model type since he was a heroin addict and has been in and out of jail. His uncles are good people and he looks up to them but they were too busy with their own things. Rameck keeps searching for someone to look up to. If he meets someone who he thinks cool, he'd try to be like him, but if it doesn't work out, he'd go search for another one to look up to. I think I could relate to Rameck. Sometimes I'd try so hard to fit in because I want everyone to like me. It's hard sometimes though. My role model would be my mom. She is amazing in every way. My mom is one of the strongest person I know. If I were in her shoes, I don't think I would be able to handle my crazy family. :P
@Carmen: I agree. Today, there are so little people with good examples to follow. It's rare to find the one who meets your standards. Although I've never encountered with people who pressures me into smoking and drinking, but I've seen people gets pressured. Good influences are hard to find these days. Sometimes, you can't even depend on your family, but mostly on your friends.
and I agree with Lexi too, it's so messed up how there are so twelve years old, even younger than that, would go around and smoke and drink and live their life like it's nothing. It's such a disastrous world.
Rameck described how it's hard to find good examples to follow. His uncles were good people however they're too busy doing their own things and he saw his friends more than he saw them. Like he said on the book, it's hard to just look up on ONE person. Because he can't look up to his family, he looks up to his friends. He tried so hard to find someone cool so he could emulate him/her. I think that's how society is today. People try to find someone they could imitate and copy because they don't know how to be independent. It's a very common issue, especially in high school.
My role model would be my mom because she's the greatest woman I've ever come across to in my life. She cooks, she does the laundry, she cleans the house, and I don't know anyone other than her who would cope with my stubbornness. I love my mom <3
@Eric I agree with you, the media do give bad role models nowadays haha. It's better for people if they'd just look up to someone they know very well, someone they see very often. :)
When Remmick talks about the few good examples he is talking about people he is able to look up to and that set a good example for him. He really doesn’t experience it at home with both his parents cought up in their own struggles it’s hard for him to be able to look up to his parents he obviously does not want to end up like them. I think although he has a tough home life he has a lot of influence at school like teachers and such. I am fortunate enough to have good examples of my own at home, my mom and dad. Although there is a lot of things in the world that could be considered bad along with some people I would say most kids have great parents or guardians to look up to unlike Remmick.
In the story Remeck speaks about having a role model. In his life, he doesn't have a person to look up to. Both his parents did drugs and if that wasn't enough to deal with, Remeck's father was constantly in and out of jail. He wanted someone who he was able to look up to. Someone to keep him out of trouble and lead him in the right direction.
A role model should be a person that you can look up to, a person that inspires you, and a person that brings out the best in you. I would have to say that my role models would have to be my parents. They both have been through ups and downs and are so very strong. They both have taught me to keep trying and very quit. Never quit even when things may seem complicated.
But Eric, I disagree with what you said: "Unfortunately , I believe that the media is in some ways a role model to many people today."
I don't believe the media is that good for many people. There are girls, starving their selves, trying to look like their "role model". There are boys, taking steroids, going to the gym, and pushing their limit trying to become a professional athlete. There are times where the media says good things like, someone donating money to an organization or whatever else; but if you really think about it, the media is going to bash someone if the paparazzi takes pictures of someone eating a donut. Next thing, all you're going to see on the stands is some superstar getting "fat".
There are very few good role models, but I personally don't trust any of these celebrities to me mine. Your favorite celebrity won't push you to do good on your test or in school. You can only push yourself. If you believe in YOURSELF, then you can make your dreams happen.
I agree with Eric. I feel the same exact way about having professional icons as our role models. Though we may strive to maybe look as they do? or act as they do? They still have no personal influence in our lives as Eric has said. I believe a role model should be someone who is close to you and has shared personal experiences right there beside you. Don't get me wrong,I believe everyone may look at a celebrity as someone they would like being like but i believe when it come to modeling your life after someone it should be someone in your life they you thinks absolutely amazing for doing whatever it is that they do that you believe is unbelievable.
I agree with you 100%,about how he did have romodels, in his life but they were too caught up and in their own lives. He couldn't depend on anyone in his family for the matter, his father was a heroin addict that was in and out of jail. The most important problem Remmick had was that not only did he need a role model he needed a MALE romedel. The problem with this was there was really no "good" male romodels to look up to so, he looked up to his friends.( Which indeed are one of your main influences.)
What Rameck was describing as a "few good examples" was he was talking about a good role model to look up to. More like a father figure. Who he can look up too, to become a good man or decent human being. But he didn't have a father figure to look up to cause he dad was a heroine addict, and he had uncles to look up to but they were just far to busy for him.
Well, I don't really have a role model per say. I mean i have people i respect but i guess no one had caught my eye yet. But honestly now and days there aren't many good role models out there.Like i would think i found a role model but they would end up disappointing me.
I agree with Athena, not alot of kids can look up to there parents because their parents are going through some problems or messing up. which is a shame, and kids look for parents for guidance and if a kid can't get that they up hang with the wrong crowed and mess up there life.
Yes, Rameck was describing a few good examples. In the story he didn't a good role model to look up to because both of his parents were drug addicts.
Role models that I look up to are very successful. People these days can't be role models because they deal drugs or are in any bad situtation. And they also live an unhappy life.
I agree w/Carmen L. because I think celebrities are human as well as we are so why should they be put on a platform if they make mistakes as well, a role model is someone who gives you that extra determination besides the determination you should already be giving yourself. They also set examples for younger and even older to look upon and give the extra strength that someone might need, and if you have a mentor in your life you should already have in your mind that they make mistakes and they're not perfect, and that shouldn't justify or affect your relationship with that person.
What Rameck was trying to describe is the people he thought of as what he wanted to be or his role models. By the way he describes himself, it is almost like that he is describing myself. Like Rameck, i also have no identity or feeling of what kind of person i should be. Out of all the people i know, my parents are my role models. Even though i do want to be just like them, they help me become my own person in my own way. So far, their plan is working perfectly!
Rameck, was talking about male role models in his life, maybe a father or an uncle. He could only look up to the men on the street. He could only follow the few good men he saw in his life. He would pick and choose for what would be good for him, how he could act. He needed to keep himself busy so he did, by trying to act like someone else. My role models in my life are my parents, they always make right decisions from my point of view. My role models are mostly older more successful people also. Rameck did not know who he wanted to be, or what he wanted for himself.
Some of the few good examples that Rameck describes on page 72 are , his friends and his uncles. Ramecks friends really weren't the best role models but they were really the only guys in his life mostly. He described his three uncles. His uncle Rahman who moved out of his mothers house. Uncle Richard who changed his name to Rasheed he didn't see much. And his uncle Sheldon who was away at collage and he also mentioned his father who is in and out of jail. My role models in my life are my parents because they are always there for me and are both very positive people whom I love dearly !
I agree with Erica Lanciano, Role Models are people who should give you the influence to never give up and to, they should be strong and should be able to stick through everything. Also, a role model is someone who should lead you to make the right decisions, and be able to help you find your right path in life. They should be strong, confident people.
I agree with Elena Centeno. I agree with Elena because I feel that role models in life should always be someone who is successful. Also role models should have good morals in life. Usually your role models would be your parents or some form of guidance in your life to help your pick and choose the right decisions for your self.
I believe that Rameck is talking about positive examples in his life.As he talks about these people in his life, he admires them in a special way. He wanted to be like them. For example his uncle who went to college in Louisiana, he saw him in a light that inspired him. These were the people who inspired him to go down the right path. My role model is my dear relative, name Jhene. She's been a great role model, being the first to go to college, and continues to push me to become a better person.
I also agree with Eric. The people who inspire us are the people we are around the most. However, not everyone sees celebrities as "inspirations". They are just as human as us, but when people put them in the light to be idolized, they put celebrities on a pedestal that they do not deserve.
Rameck was describing what Erica said, a fatherly figure. Someone out there who wasn't doing or selling drugs and made it at least through highschool and has a job. There weren't many people out there for him, though.
I look up to my dad. He goes through rough times but he's a very strong person for what he's been through and it's respectable. He's my hero.
When Rameck is talking about having good examples in his life, he is talking about having good influences in his life so he can be like them. I believe that everyone has someone to look up to. Everyone has that one person who will always lead them in the right direction. For me, it's my father. Every time I had a problem with anything, I ask him for the best possible advice to get out of the situation.
Remeck was describing how he didn't have much people in his life that really show a good role in order for him to grow as a responsible man. His father, a person most boys would want/need to look up to was a drug addict. While his uncles, the few good role models wasn't around for much of the time because they are busy with their own things. He's stuck with his friends, they might not be all that bad, but they are a bunch of guys who hang out with each other, and try to impress one another. Who are my role models? Since I was little, I've had so much people around me that taught me well. To grow as a better person, know what's good and bad. Know which to follow and which not to. Not every body is perfect. For example, my parents are great role models in my life, but they make mistakes. Before I was able to understand those mistakes, they showed how bad what the things they're going to do is bad. So by the time I understand most of the things going on around my life, I understand which ones to follow, because even a good person has their times when they do something bad. Everybody are good people, in other words everyone around me are my role models. My role models taught me how to see things differently, therefore I can learn from their mistakes, and my own.
I agree with just about everything you said. Your right, good influences are everywhere and it is up to us to find them, and use them. However, the only thing in your opinion that I do not completely agree with is that when you say we shouldn't use a professional sports player as a role model. The reason why is because, what if that player had similar problems growing up and you want to use him as a role model to follow in his footsteps?
I agree with most people here, Remeck is trying to grow up, and be a better person. It's not like he's a bad person at all, even when he does bad things, it came up in his head that what he's about to do is no good. He did it anyway, because of the influence of his friends. Think about it, we're also growing up, trying to see our place. There are times when we want to act "cool" around our friends right? In the other hand, we're good people, we're not created as devils who always have bad thoughts. There are times when something come across our minds that we shouldn't be doing these bad things, but in the end, we did it anyway. And like Remeck, everyone wants to find their role models.
when rameck talks about the "few good examples" I believe he's talking about people ( role models ) in life who set good examples for others. Rameck was allways trying to find a person like that who would influence his life. Although neither one of his parents were good examples, he still had succesful uncles, who were perfect role models but sadly they weren't around often. personally my role model would be my pop. he's the best ever, greatest personality, and sets the best examples for me. :)
He never had many romodels, or men to look up too, so it was hard for him to build up his character. His dad was a drug addict and he was never close to his uncles much, even though they were great guys. I personally do have a romodel. it would have to be my sister Josephing. Shes not only beautiful but shes in collage , has a job, and is serving our counrty as an soilder in the army.
I pretty much agree with everything you said except for the whole, not accepting professional athletes as good examples etc.. Because what Joe said is right like what if they been threw the same thing or worse, yano. But other than that I agree smarty pants. ha ha:)
What Rameck mean about "few good examples", he was talking about role model or someone he could look up to. To be specific he wanted someone to keep him out of trouble, because he finally realize his old friends was leading him to severe trouble and he ended up in jail. Although it was difficult for him to find the precise role model, because his dad and uncle were not there for him. He finally found Sam and George, who changed his life tremendously, and in the end he became successful!
I think he was talking about role models. All we should really have in life is some good role models. They set influences on us that no other can. They show us how to be good and do good things for others as well. I really fell bad for Rameck since he didnt have any good parents as role models. His uncles may have been good though. My role model is my cousin Helson, he gratuated from prep a while ago and is now taking a trip to Japan for school. He really showed me some great thing in my life.
And I completely agree with Eric. It's extremly hard to find good people to follow, but their are some great people. Everyone is good in their own way. Just depends on what you think is good
I think you made a great point! There are numerous role model that have influence you in various times. Although only some are scrupulous, and the rest are immoral. But, why not a professional sport player? Some of us might have gone through the same experience or have similar background. In my comprehension, having professional sport player or etc being your role model is exceptional, because they worked so hard to be able to get to where they are today, even though they might have rough childhood and abstract background.
When Rameck was talking about "few good examples", he was talking about how his friends and he try to look up to people, but there are very few out there. His dad is a heroin addict, being thrown in and out of jail. His uncles are all occupied with there own busy lives. Because I go to church, there are a lot of people to look up to. Although some people mess up at times, it's okay because we are all human. It's always good to look up to someone on a personal level, because they show you the real way of life and you can see their struggles, unlike celebrities who you see their success before you hear their story.
I agree with Aiyana. Why should celebrities be put on a pedal stool? Even though I knew a celebrity on a personal level and looked up to him, when he messed up I was devastated. But, I had to realize that he was just as human as I was. But to everybody, my advice would be to find role models who help and encourage you to do the right thing instead of just wanting to be a reflection of their life.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Carli because as she said, "...there are millions of people out there, it is very difficult to find someone to follow." I think this is true because there is a lot of negativity in the world around us and many people are doing bad things. You need to know what you want for yourself and find someone positive to look up to in life. No matter what age, race, gender, role models could help you succeed in life. They are there to guide you along the way.
ReplyDeleteRameck does not really have any role models in his life. His father and mother were on drugs, and his father was also in and out of jail. Rameck had to depend on his grandmother, who he called Ma. Rameck did have two uncles that he looked up to when he saw them.
ReplyDeleteEric A.D. and Carli Mastantuno
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eric and Carli Mastantuno.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eric.
ReplyDeleteI really like all the comments on here but I recognized two things that stood out to me In Carli's comment and in Carmen's comment.
ReplyDelete@ Carli...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maia and I think that she's right because people who inspired us are the ones that we can trust and follow. Also, they must give us good examples to follow and make right decisions. As Maia said that people who influences us are the one that encourage us to do positive things in our life.
ReplyDeleteSome of the few good examples Rameck describes on page 72 is about his uncles and what good they did with their lives.
ReplyDeleteI agree with eric because many people don't have a lot of positive in their life. They are surrounded by a lot of negativity and neglect which pushes them to do things that won't have such a good impact on them in the end. Sometimes people need someone to look up to to give them a little push to succeed!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Eric because our role models are the ones that are close to us the most close to us. I don't think a famous person should be your role model only becasue you like thier songs, fashion, house, or lifestyle. Familyand friends are the best role modles to have. Thats why my role model is my mom.
ReplyDeleteRameck Hunt, he didnt really have role model. but he have his grandmother who is there for him. but he have a role model of himself though that he would want to success it. my role model would be my family!! no one can replace my family with other people. they always be there for me even i had done so many mistake. They still take me as part of their family no matter what i have done!!
ReplyDeletei agree with Giana, he didnt really had family be to be there for him. he have to be himself role model.
ReplyDeleteRameck was talking about some people/men who he can look up to (in page 72 of the book). He was talking about how he looks up to his uncles, which he discribed are good guys. Even though he often see his uncles regularly, he was more hangingout/seeing his neighborhood friends. He wants someone to look up to, so if he sees someone he thinks are cool, he would want to be with and/or like the person.
ReplyDeleteMy role models are my parents(& someone else in my family, like aunts, older cousins, etc.), the people at my church, someone special to me, some teachers, ect. and the most important is Heavenly Father(God).
ReplyDelete@ Carmen :)
ReplyDeleteCarm, i agree with you 1000% because when you said: "Nowadays, good influences are hard to find in this generation of people.
ReplyDeleteMy role model would be my mom. She is amazing in every way. My mom is one of the strongest person I know. If I were in her shoes, I don't think I would be able to handle my crazy family.
:P
@Carmen:
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteBecause he can't look up to his family, he looks up to his friends.
@Eric
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, the media do give bad role models nowadays haha.
ReplyDeleteIn the story Remeck speaks about having a role model. In his life, he doesn't have a person to look up to. Both his parents did drugs and if that wasn't enough to deal with, Remeck's father was constantly in and out of jail. He wanted someone who he was able to look up to. Someone to keep him out of trouble and lead him in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteA role model should be a person that you can look up to, a person that inspires you, and a person that brings out the best in you. I would have to say that my role models would have to be my parents. They both have been through ups and downs and are so very strong. They both have taught me to keep trying and very quit. Never quit even when things may seem complicated.
Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteBut Eric, I disagree with what you said: "Unfortunately , I believe that the media is in some ways a role model to many people today."
ReplyDeleteI feel the same exact way about having professional icons as our role models.
@ Long
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%,about how he did have romodels, in his life but they were too caught up and in their own lives.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't really have a role model per say.
ReplyDeleteRole models that I look up to are very successful.
ReplyDeleteWhat Rameck was trying to describe is the people he thought of as what he wanted to be or his role models.
ReplyDeleteRameck, was talking about male role models in his life, maybe a father or an uncle.
ReplyDeleteSome of the few good examples that Rameck describes on page 72 are , his friends and his uncles.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Erica Lanciano,
ReplyDeleteRole Models are people who should give you the influence to never give up and to, they should be strong and should be able to stick through everything.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Rameck is talking about positive examples in his life.As he talks about these people in his life, he admires them in a special way. He wanted to be like them. For example his uncle who went to college in Louisiana, he saw him in a light that inspired him. These were the people who inspired him to go down the right path. My role model is my dear relative, name Jhene. She's been a great role model, being the first to go to college, and continues to push me to become a better person.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Eric. The people who inspire us are the people we are around the most. However, not everyone sees celebrities as "inspirations". They are just as human as us, but when people put them in the light to be idolized, they put celebrities on a pedestal that they do not deserve.
ReplyDeleteRameck was describing what Erica said, a fatherly figure. Someone out there who wasn't doing or selling drugs and made it at least through highschool and has a job. There weren't many people out there for him, though.
ReplyDeleteI look up to my dad. He goes through rough times but he's a very strong person for what he's been through and it's respectable. He's my hero.
Joe G
ReplyDeleteWhen Rameck is talking about having good examples in his life, he is talking about having good influences in his life so he can be like them.
ReplyDeleteWho are my role models?
Eric A.D.
ReplyDeleteI agree with just about everything you said.
ReplyDeletewhen rameck talks about the "few good examples" I believe he's talking about people ( role models ) in life who set good examples for others. Rameck was allways trying to find a person like that who would influence his life. Although neither one of his parents were good examples, he still had succesful uncles, who were perfect role models but sadly they weren't around often.
ReplyDeletepersonally my role model would be my pop. he's the best ever, greatest personality, and sets the best examples for me.
ReplyDelete-iagree with marchylia:)
to Eric (:
ReplyDeleteI pretty much agree with everything you said except for the whole, not accepting professional athletes as good examples etc..
ReplyDeleteI think he was talking about role models.
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely agree with Eric. It's extremly hard to find good people to follow, but their are some great people. Everyone is good in their own way. Just depends on what you think is good
To Joe,
ReplyDeleteI think you made a great point!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aiyana.
ReplyDelete
